How To Play By Email
How do I play by email?
The USS Victory hosts a Play By Email [PBEM] simulation [SIM]. Throughout the course of the PBEM, the members of the group each create and portray at least one crewmember or civilian attached to the vessel. Each member writes third-person narrative dialogues (stories, basically) that add to the overall story of the USS Victory. We call these narrative dialogues "posts". These posts are sent to all members of the Victory's cast and crew. The posts are generally written from one character's point of view (most often in third person), as he/she/it acts out the life and times of that character, as well as situations designed or authorizedby the Victory's CO.

We want to see how your character acts and reacts within the environment of the game, including his or her or hir realistic interactions with the ship, the crew, and any aliens, phenomena or situations we encounter during the course of the PBEM. So please note that as the emphasis in the PBEM is on character development, this often means that characters will be at odds with each other. C'est la vie in real life, and we want to be as realistic as possible, without actually influencing real life itself. Please, please, please, while playing, remember that differences are between the characters only, and should not be carried over into real life. No publicly emailed hostilities will be tolerated in the course of the USS Victory PBEM.

The PBEM itself takes place through the Victory's listserver, which is an email address that redirects your posts to the rest of the Victory crew. Currently, the Victory-A uses the Yahoo! Groups listserver victory-a@yahoogroups.com.
